Islands and Cities
All are floating islands of pililani grass mats which are normally over shallow waters.
All Kahurangi and tourist islands above a notu have an atoll (porohita papa), and the Kahurangi and Kaiteri capitals have two. Tourist notutere and notere also have a sea mount (paparao) (1-1-10/1-2-10).
There are several types of islands. Most islands are Notere Tere or floating islands. Some are Notere Enoana oceanic (stationary islands). Some near the sunken continents are Notere Tuahena or continental islands, meaning they are part of the continental shelf. Others are Notere Tuahena Waka, which are micro continental islands that have a rift between the island and the continental shelf.
