Tawaka
- They are black and white banded Kaiteri. They have white throats, and they have wider white stripes on their heads than the Patari.
- Mated pairs like to preen each other and sing face-to-face duets.
- They like to swin with their heads up.

- Ripeka [cross, St. Croix], has a major colony of Tawaka.
- Taone Haimona [Simon's Town]
- Oneh Toka [Boulders Beach] - a newish colony.
- Kekoru Peti [Betty's Bay]
- Kumoreh Pohatu [Stone Point] - a newish colony.
- Names include:
- Rilpekkawain (nickname Rilpekka) [Brilpikkewyne]
- Ingusa [Inguza] - also the name of ancestors.
- Unopompiya [Unombombiya]
